Manufacturing and Engineering
The West Midlands is built upon a long tradition of manufacturing and has one of the strongest engineering skills base in Europe. Whilst production-line businesses have out-sourced much of their work in recent years, new manufacturing processes and products are emerging requiring advanced skills, knowledge and business acumen. Design, prototype and precision engineering businesses continue to flourish, servicing growth sectors such as aviation, rail transport, renewable energies and nanotechnologies.
